Going Low-Fat: Keeping Fat Low When Dining Out

When you're eating out, a few simple tips will make it easy to stick with your healthy low-fat eating style.

  • Ask questions about the menu items and the ways these dishes are prepared.
  • Request foods to be steamed instead of fried or stir-fried.
  • Ask for dressing on the side when ordering salads.
  • Ask for a dish to be made from beans, vegetables, and/or rice-and hold the oil please!
  • Watch out for the hidden fats in some foods, such as coconut curries or guacamole.
