Keeping Food Safe: Take Basic Safety Measures

These basic food safety measures can help prevent contamination:

  • Wash hands thoroughly in hot soapy water before and after preparing food, before eating, and after using the bathroom or changing a diaper.
  • Wash all fruits and vegetables under cool running tap water before preparing or consuming.
  • Avoid unpasteurized juices and untreated water.
