Sweet and Salty Southern Braised TurnipsMakes about 6 servings Gently braised turnips are surprisingly delicious. Be sure to peel them deeply, as their skin can be fairly thick. You can braise the turnip's greens right along with the roots, if you are lucky enough to find them attached. 1
tablespoon
organic
canola or safflower oil
Heat canola or safflower oil in a large skillet. When hot add turnips and stir-fry until lightly browned all over, about 5 to 8 minutes. Add water, tamari, and sugar or other sweetener, and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until turnips are tender, about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with toasted sesame oil, toss gently, and serve. Per serving (1/6 of recipe)
